Motorcycle Trip - August 30th - September 2nd, 2004
Spanaway, WA - Kamloops, BC - Castlegar, BC - Leavenworth, WA - Spanaway, WA Day 4 - Leavenworth, WA - Spanaway, WA - 150 Miles OK, I'm sure you're getting tired of reading if you're still here, so this will be a short day. Woke up to sunshine and had a nice breakfast. We packed our gear and loaded up the bikes. We were on the road by 9AM today and headed west over Stevens pass and on to DH-40. About 1/2 way up Stevens, it started to rain. The higher we climbed, the more it rained, and the colder it got. I was freezing my Hurlbut off by the time we crested the pass and headed down the other side. Fortunately as we descended, the temperature rose and the rain stopped. I'm going to have to head over Stevens again in decent weather, because I'm sure the ride is pretty cool. But we really didn't get to enjoy it much. Some road work on 2 had us on a detour through Skykomish.The detour would have been cool if A) I wasn't freezing, and B) there weren't 20 cars in front of us. A quick stop in Sultans so Brandon could get some gas, and we were on our way again. We hit 522 in Monroe and that brought us to 405. 405 to I-5 and Brandon and I waved good bye at the Kent Des Moines road exit, and I headed home. After 4 days and nearly 1,200 miles, it was good to be home! Great time! Great Ride! Great Friends! Great Bike! It's all good. Thanks again B! Had a blast! John Hurlbut, September 3rd, 2004. |
