Trip to London, England, November 1999

Welcome to page 2 of my London Pictures!! Glad you decided to stay!!

Clock Tower at the Houses of Parliament Looking up the Clock Tower

[Left] This is the clock tower at the houses of parliament. Commonly called "Big Ben". The term "Big Ben" actually refers to the bell inside, not to the actual clock tower, and was named after the towers first bell ringer who was named David. I'm just kidding, his name was Ben. Good thing it wasn't Richard.
[Right] This would be looking up the clock tower . . . Teri has a thing for clocks, so we took lots of pictures.

Clock tower with the houses of parliament

Here you get a good idea of how the clock tower is attached to the Houses of Parliament.

Here are the Houses of Parliament from the river Themes side.

Fountain in Trafalger Square

This is the fountain in Trafalger Square. (Everything is a square or a circle in this place!!) Trafalger square is dedicated to Lord Nelson (who's sitting atop the column on the left of the picture) who died at the battle of Trafalger defeating the French. All the statues around here are made from melted down French cannons. Also, to preserve the body of Lord Nelson from France back to England, they place him in a container full of whiskey for the 3 week voyage. Once he was back and firmly planted, his ship mates drank the whiskey!! EWWWWWWW!!!

Pigeons ATTACK!!!

Pigeon feeding is a big thing in Trafalger square . . . they are not timid at all . . . notice pigeon on kids head.

St. Martins in the Filed Horse Guard

[Left] The building behind the lion is St. Martin's in the field. Another church. This area was actually a field many many years ago, hence the name.
[Right] A guard on a horse . . . we got the horse to smile, but not the guard . . .
