Good Time, Good Friends, Good Hike!

So on Sunday, the boyz and I loaded the gear into the truck and headed to Twin Falls for some hiking. We had a great time. Brandon, Steve, Derek and I arrived at the trailhead about a quarter to 10 and Erick, Jerry, Melinda, Kyle and Brianna showed up around a quarter after. We hit the trail about 10:20. I was glad to get moving because even in spite of the rain, the mosquitoes were already buzzing about. Anyone that knows anything about me, knows I'm highly allergic to mosquitoes. It'll be just my luck to get West Nile Virus or some damn thing. Anyway, I was feeling pretty good on the trail. Certainly could tell from our last hike up Rattlesnake that my workouts were paying off. We stopped for a brief break at a little bench area that had been set up and I noshed on some M&M's and some cheese. The bench area was right after a good set of switchbacks and a couple hundred feet of elevation gain I'd guess. I should bring my GPS next time, or ask Steve. But I felt good going up. My heart rate got up, but it certainly took less time to "recover" than when I was on rattlesnake. When I got going too hard, I could stop for just 30 or 40 seconds and be ready to move on again. We continued on after the bench area, the elevation drops back down to the river and then climbs pretty quickly up to the bridge at the falls. I'd guess a good 300 feet of elevation gain. We stopped on the bridge and I grabbed some more cheese to much on and a couple more M&M's. Drank down some of my agua and we were off again. I kinda wanted to push myself since this was a slightly easier hike than Rattlesnake, so when Erick stopped and said "We can stop here if you want" I said "no, I'm going to keep going". Brandon, Steve and Derek were still up ahead. I'd decided I'd keep going until I either caught up to them, or ran into them on their way back. I caught up to Brandon who was enjoying a bit of a snack to stave off a diabetic coma and pushed on beyond him. A little while later, I caught Steve and Derek and the three of us continued on to the Upper Twin Falls trail head where it meets up with the John Wayne trail. We all headed back down and Erick, Jerry and Kyle were just coming up. I was proud that they had decided to continue on to the the Upper trail head as well. Once we were all back in the parking lot, the decision was made to grab lunch at Fatburger in Issaquah. (Yes, I know, not the healthiest of choices, but hey . . .we're human!) I'd never had a fatburger before, so it was a treat. It's no Frisko Freeze, but still a decent burger none the less.

I got home and was feeling kind of stuffy, so I took a nice long hot bath. Teri and I lounged on the couches watching a bit of TV before I cooked her dinner . . . OK, well it was really breakfast, but it was at 6, so it was dinner. She went to bed around 9 and I cleaned up the kitchen and headed off to bed around 11. Today I'm still stuffy and have a slight headache. I think Teri finally succeeded in infecting me. It didn't stop me from going to the gym today though. See the Exercise log, link to the right.

I took some pics of the house this weekend. It's painted inside. The electricians should be out today to trim out the electrical. So hopefully when I get out there later today, there will be lights! WOO HOO!
