How can you possibly have a cranky day . . . and fins are cheating!

So this morning in the pool, there were a number of people doing butterfly. I was impressed. It’s not often you see people doing that stroke. I feel fortunate to be able to do it and do it somewhat OK. I have to admit I was feeling a bit inadequate with all these people doing fly, doing it well and doing it fast . . . until . . . I noticed . . . they were all wearing . . . fins. OK now I don’t feel so bad.

I did a 200 swim, kick, pull, kick this morning followed by a 100 swim and a 100 IM (sans fins).

As I was driving home, I was noticing what a beautiful day it was. And then I pulled into our neighborhood and saw the following picture perfect post card. If I had a little more time, I would have watched the sun rise completely . . . but it’s days like this you just cannot be cranky no matter how hard you try. You can’t. It’s why living in the great northwest is so unique. Here it is about 35 degrees out, crystal blue skies and the sun rising behind Mount Rainier. You cannot beat it. The winds on the mountain blowing flurries of snow make it look like the sun is so hot it’s melting the snow and turning it into steam. Incredible site. Our neighborhood is good for pictures like this. It’s oddly calming to live so near an active volcano. When she blows there won’t be much you can do about it, but sit back and enjoy the view.
