Head in the Sand
by John

Head down in the sand
My life passes by close at hand

I missed your screams for help
Now I feel I miss a piece of myself

I stand up and look around
I can see you standing in the distance

Wiping the grains from my face
Your arms outstreched for embrace

I walk closer now you come into view
Now it’s I who scream for you

You pretend not to hear
Hoping I’m not sincere

I’m closing the distance now
Stretching out my hand

But now it’s you with your head in the sand.
I’m standing here by your side

When you come back for air
It’s me who’ll be standing there
